Access Statement For Combehead Barn
Introduction
Our bed and breakfast/self catering Barn consists of both ground floor and
first floor detached accommodation. We have tried to provide as much
information as possible in this statement, if you have any queries please do
call. We look forward to welcoming you.
Pre-Arrival
•We have a basic website
•Bookings/enquiries can be made via email or telephone.
•There is no bus service
•The nearest train station (Chippenham) is approximately 3.5 miles
away; there are accessible taxis at the station
•We can arrange for shopping to be delivered on arrival
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
•There is a car parking area at the entrance to Combehead clearly
marked with the Combehead sign from the slip road just off the main road – A420
and there is a space allocated to the Barn
•Car park is level with gravel flat and even
•There is also street parking
•The entrance to the garden from the car parking area has six
steps down to the path with handrails on either side. There is a slabbed
pathway leading to the Barn which is approximately 15.5 metres long, one metre
wide, a further three steps down with no handrail to the Barn patio door
entrance.
Main Entrance to Combehead Barn
•The entrance at the front has one step through the patio doorway
which opens outwards.
•Having entered the patio doorway, you are in the combined sitting
room/dining room which has flagstone flooring with rug.
•There are a further four flagstone steps leading from the sitting
room to the fully equipped kitchen, again with no handrail.
•Décor on the ground floor is magnolia paintwork with fossil mint
flagstone flooring and rug in both sitting room and kitchen. Back
door entrance and ground floor WC off the kitchen.
•There is a carpet runner in grey covering the stairway from the
kitchen to the bedroom, eight steps with handrails either side.
•Smoke alarms are fitted in bedroom and open plan living area.
Public Areas - WC
•There is a WC off the back door entrance.
Dining Room & Lounge
•The combined sitting room/dining room is open plan with four
steps leading up to the kitchen.
•Rectangular Wooden DiningTable (moveable) – central pedestal
brace legs, 74cm to floor, 114.5cm long, 71cm wide
•Chairs (moveable) – 4 chairs with padded seat and no arms.
•One double sofa and one easy chair provided both armed
•Teletext TV provided with remote control (also available are DVD,
stereo with CD, radio and tape)
Laundry
•There is no washing machine in the Barn, but laundry can be
accommodated on request.

Bedroom
•The bedroom is of an open plan mezzanine/gallery design with limited space due
to the structure of the building and the sloping roof in the bedroom.
•Wooden floorboards with one cotton mat between the beds and
another mat at the foot of the beds.
•Standard twin beds provided – 91.5cm wide.
•Bed height 54cm floor to top of mattress.
•Beds are movable if more space is required to one side
•Non Feather duvets and pillows provided.
•Sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases are cotton
•Teletext TV/DVD provided in the bedroom with remote control
•There is also a front door to the sitting room which has a key in
the lock.
Bathroom & WC [Ensuite]
•Door width 74cm
•Double ended bath with taps in the middle with flexible shower
over. It is necessary to step into the bath in order to use the shower. There
are no handrails.

•Toilet seat height 42.5cm

•Flooring is cushion floor vinyl in blue and white chequered
design.
•The bathroom is painted white, with white and blue tiles.
•There is a wicker chair with cushion in the corner of the
bathroom.
•The washbasin stands on a pedestal.
Self-Catering Kitchen
•Kitchen open plan with stable door opening into foyer with back door and
ground floor WC. Stable door width 85cm.
Back door width 64cm – WC door width 65cm
•Worktop height 91.5cm. All fitted kitchen with white cupboards
both below and above work surfaces.
•Oven door is drop down, height of lowest shelf 40cm, can be
accessed from the side
•Sink is 92cm high with cupboards underneath
•Hob is 94cm high and electric plates.
•Flooring is flagstones with rug.
•Evenly lit kitchen with central light fitment and a further light
fitted into the extractor hood above the hob when required
•Good contrast between floor, cupboards and other surfaces
•Fridge with small freezer available, highest shelf in fridge 72cm
Grounds and Gardens
•Slabbed Patio area available for the use of the Barn and equipped
with wooden/iron garden furniture. There are also potted plants and hanging
baskets.
•Access to the patio area can be gained from the patio doors, up
three steps and then a further three steps. No handrails.
•Access from the back door, over gravelled area, up two steps with
no handrails.
Additional Information
• Information folder is produced in size 14 font (can be audio on request)
•Good mobile phone reception
•Evacuation of the Barn in case of fire is via either the patio
doors, the front door in the sitting room or the back door off the kitchen.
Please inform on arrival of individual requirements in case of evacuation.
Please let us know if you are unlikely to hear the fire alarm.
•The Barn is a no smoking area.
•Pets and service dogs are welcome – please inform us on booking

Future Plans
•We are planning to provide upgrade the bathroom by removing
the bath and replacing it with a walk-in shower, if this is possible (2008).
